Hemlock spruce oil (often sold simply as “spruce”) is steam-distilled from the needles and twigs of the Tsuga canadensis tree from North America. Alpha-pinene dominates, so the scent is clean, coniferous and resinous, closer to fir than to pine.
In a diffuser it brings the scent of the forest into your home – perfect in winter, next to the Christmas tree, and in rooms you want to “air” without opening the windows.

How to use
- Ultrasonic diffuser: 3–5 drops per 100 ml of water (roughly 10–15 drops for a 300–400 ml tank).
- Waterless nebuliser: pour the oil into the device’s 10 ml bottle and screw it on.
- Scent stones, wooden beads or ceramics: 2–3 drops, repeat as needed.
- Do not apply the oil to the skin and do not swallow it. Air the room from time to time during use. Keep tightly closed in a cool, dark place, out of reach of children and pets.

Is hemlock spruce really a 100% natural essential oil?
Yes. The bottle contains only essential oil obtained from Tsuga canadensis (needles and twigs, steam distillation), in line with the definition of an essential oil in ISO 9235. We add no carrier oils, alcohol, solvents or synthetic fragrances. Purity is confirmed by the supplier’s safety data sheet, certificate of analysis and IFRA certificate.
How many drops do I put in the diffuser?
For an ultrasonic diffuser, 3–5 drops per 100 ml of water is enough. Start with fewer and increase the dose as needed – essential oils are intense.
Can I apply the oil directly to my skin?
No. Essential oils are highly concentrated and can irritate the skin or trigger an allergic reaction. This product is intended for scenting rooms and is not a cosmetic product.
Is this the same as spruce oil?
Not quite. Tsuga canadensis is the eastern hemlock, a relative of fir and spruce, with a softer, more resinous scent. Suppliers often sell it under the trade name “spruce”.
Which oils does hemlock spruce blend well with?
Hemlock spruce pairs well with Virginian cedarwood, juniper berry, frankincense, sweet orange and lavender. For a forest scent try 3 drops of hemlock spruce and 2 drops of cedarwood.
Is it suitable for a room with children and pets?
Keep the bottle out of reach of children and animals. Do not run a diffuser in a room where a baby is sleeping, and always give pets the option to move to a scent-free room. Cats are especially sensitive to essential oils.
Why does the bottle have a child-resistant cap?
The oil is classified as hazardous, so we bottle it in amber glass with a child-resistant cap and a tactile warning for the visually impaired.
