Star anise \u2013 the sweet star of winter blends<\/h2>\n

Star anise oil is steam-distilled from the star-shaped fruits of the Illicium verum tree from China. Anethole dominates, giving a distinctly sweet, aniseed scent reminiscent of pastis or sweet liquorice.<\/p>\n

Use it moderately in the diffuser and in blends with cinnamon, orange or frankincense, where it adds a festive, sweet finish. At lower temperatures the oil solidifies \u2013 that is a natural property of anethole, not a fault.<\/p>\n

How to use<\/h3>\n

  • Ultrasonic diffuser: 3\u20135 drops per 100 ml of water (roughly 10\u201315 drops for a 300\u2013400 ml tank).<\/li>\n
  • Waterless nebuliser: pour the oil into the device’s 10 ml bottle and screw it on.<\/li>\n
  • Scent stones, wooden beads or ceramics: 2\u20133 drops, repeat as needed.<\/li>\n
  • Do not apply the oil to the skin and do not swallow it. Air the room from time to time during use. Keep tightly closed in a cool, dark place, out of reach of children and pets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Is star anise really a 100% natural essential oil?<\/p>\n

    Yes. The bottle contains only essential oil obtained from Illicium verum (fruits, steam distillation), in line with the definition of an essential oil in ISO 9235. We add no carrier oils, alcohol, solvents or synthetic fragrances. Purity is confirmed by the supplier’s safety data sheet, certificate of analysis and IFRA certificate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    How many drops do I put in the diffuser?<\/p>\n

    For an ultrasonic diffuser, 3\u20135 drops per 100 ml of water is enough. Start with fewer and increase the dose as needed \u2013 essential oils are intense.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Can I apply the oil directly to my skin?<\/p>\n

    No. Essential oils are highly concentrated and can irritate the skin or trigger an allergic reaction. This product is intended for scenting rooms and is not a cosmetic product.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Why has the oil solidified in the bottle?<\/p>\n

    Anethole, the main component, crystallises below roughly 20 \u00b0C. Warm the bottle in your hands or in lukewarm water for a few minutes and the oil will be liquid again. The quality is unaffected.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Which oils does star anise blend well with?<\/p>\n

    Star anise pairs well with cinnamon, sweet orange, mandarin, clove and frankincense. For a sweet winter scent try 1 drop of star anise, 3 drops of mandarin and 1 drop of cinnamon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Is it suitable for a room with children and pets?<\/p>\n

    Keep the bottle out of reach of children and animals. Do not run a diffuser in a room where a baby is sleeping, and always give pets the option to move to a scent-free room. Cats are especially sensitive to essential oils.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
